CASAC Crime Alert is a simple to use, online resource that allows members of the public to register online and receive email alert messages when there is suspected criminal activity underway in their chosen area and about which they should be vigilant. Registration requires just a username and an email address to which the alerts should be sent.

In simple terms, any member of the public can access a secure registration web page that allows them to request alerts based upon postcode, district areas or special categories such as students.  The local Police input alerts through an entirely separate interface, keeping all data and information secure within the CASAC system, they can then add alert messages, which will be sent to those people who have requested alerts.

Insp Ian Williams of Castleford Neighbourhood Police Team said

“I am delighted that CASAC have adopted my nine PACT (Police and Communities Together) areas when setting up this initiative in Castleford. It enables my PACT managers to deliver local messages to residents at the time they are relevant. Information on suspects, recent offences, crime trends not to mention reminders of when the next PACT meetings are being held, can be put out very quickly using this system.”

“Telling the public about what we are doing towards addressing their local priorities is something we need to do at every opportunity. I have promised to act on what you tell us at PACT meetings and this is one more way of getting to know what we have done in your community. You will only receive updates relevant to the PACT area where you live. I would urge everyone in Castleford to register and get informed.”
