Contracts
Housing providers are aware that housing cannot be considered in isolation. Government highlights that the quality of our housing affects the health and well-being of us all. In addition, crime and the fear of crime have been identified as factors that can significantly affect the quality of life regardless of the standard of housing. Indeed, housing providers are tasked with supporting services that seek to reduce crime and the fear of crime.
CASAC can help housing providers to meet their social objectives and Best Value Performance Indicators by:
- Delivering high quality effective security solutions to housing stock, ensuring that homes are safe and secure, achieving Decent Homes Standard through using best practice.
- Creating local training and employment opportunities and initiatives to tenants, through social enterprise development.
- Increasing the number of residents feeling safe within their communities.
- Complimenting community safety priorities identified by housing providers.
- Reducing crime within disadvantaged neighbourhoods, ultimately key in developing a positive image and reputation and thus reducing the level of empty homes.
For example, the Leeds Housing Strategy states that although a lot of work has already taken place, by 2007, a number of extremely challenging outcomes needs to be achieved:
- 78% of council homes will be compliant with the Decent Homes Standard;
- 6, 872 council homes will have had security works provided;
- Domestic burglary rate will have reduced to 26.2 per 1,000 households;
- 70% by value of improvement building contracts will use local labour;
- 70% of all tenants will be satisfied or very satisfied with the repairs service provided by their landlord.
Based on our results CASAC is assisting in achieving these targets.
Working with CASAC can also help housing providers to meet their partnership working objectives. Most housing strategies acknowledge that a partnership approach is critical in achieving core aims in order to ensure that the most relevant and effective services are provided for tenants. One benefit of working with CASAC is our ability to communicate effectively with our partners. Due to the very nature of our work our team has excellent communication skills and can respond quickly and professionally to the needs of housing providers.
These issues are becoming of equal importance to private developers and landlords. CASAC have the resources and experience to handle projects ranging from single households to large contracts with Housing Associations, Property Developers and Construction Companies.
